Bengaluru Metro Pink Line to be Operational, Open for Public Use by 15 August

The much-awaited Pink Line of Bengaluru Metro has moved a step closer to opening after receiving an important speed certification. The certificate was issued by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) on June 4, marking a major milestone for the project. This approval allows the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation

Limited (BMRCL) to move ahead with the next stages of safety clearances and inspections required before passenger services can begin.

Bengaluru Metro Pink Line to Open in August

According to BMRCL officials, the remaining approvals, including signalling safety checks and inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), are expected to be completed by the end of July. If everything proceeds as planned, the elevated section of the Pink Line along Bannerghatta Road is likely to be opened to the public by August 15.

Bengaluru Metro Pink Line

The first phase of the Pink Line covers a 7.5-kilometre elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere. This section includes six metro stations and will provide improved connectivity for residents travelling through the busy Bannerghatta Road corridor. One of its key features is an interchange station at Jayadeva Hospital, where passengers can switch to the Yellow Line.

Arrival of Bengaluru Trains for Pink Line

BMRCL has already received six trainsets from BEML, with more trains expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Metro services on the corridor are planned to operate at a frequency of around five minutes during peak hours, helping reduce travel time and traffic congestion in the area.

Meanwhile, station finishing work is still underway. BMRCL's latest update shows that civil construction on the elevated section is more than 98% complete. Officials are now focusing on final architectural works and safety approvals before opening the line.

Underground Section of Pink Line

The remaining 13.75-kilometre underground section of the Pink Line, which will connect Dairy Circle and Nagawara, is expected to become operational later in December 2026. Once fully completed, the Pink Line will significantly improve north-south connectivity across Bengaluru and further expand the city's metro network.
