Tamil Nadu Rain Alert: Several Districts in the State to Receive Rainfall Due to Change in Weather Amid Heat

According to the Chennai Meteorological Department, a low-pressure system is likely to bring light rain to several areas of Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and the Western Ghats until April 18. At the same time, several districts of Tamil Nadu are expected to experience slightly higher temperatures in some places until April 16.

Heat Wave in Tamil Nadu

People across the state are already struggling with intense summer heat. The temperature is especially extreme between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., making it difficult for people to go outside. Authorities have advised the public to take precautions such as carrying water bottles and using umbrellas to avoid heat-related problems.

Tamil Nadu Rain Alert

The weather department explained that a low-pressure area currently stretches from North Madhya Pradesh to South Tamil Nadu, passing through regions like Vidarbha, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Interior Karnataka. Due to this system, light rainfall may occur in one or two places in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and the Western Ghats between April 13 and April 18. Meanwhile, the sky in Chennai and nearby areas is expected to remain partly cloudy.

Moreover, Tamil Nadu recorded up to 20 mm of rain in some places over the past 24 hours, including Kanyakumari district, Adyamadai, and Ayikudi in Tenkasi.

Extreme Temperatures in Several Districts

Despite the chance of rain, the heat remains strong in many parts of the state. Interior districts are continuing to record high temperatures. On Sunday, the highest temperature was recorded in Paramathi Vellore at 103.1°F. Other cities like Vellore, Erode, Madurai, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, and Dharmapuri also reported temperatures above 100°F, showing how severe the heatwave continues to be.
