The North Western Railway has extended the running of the Valley Queen metre gauge train between Marwar Junction and Khambli Ghat from April 1 to September 30 to promote heritage tourism. It will now run for almost the entire year, which is for the first time in the last two years, due to growing tourist interest.
Valley Queen Train
The Valley Queen train is known for its scenic journey through the Aravalli Hills. It offers passengers a unique experience of India's old metre gauge railway system, which is slowly disappearing. The route includes tunnels, sharp turns, and beautiful views, making it especially attractive for tourists looking for something different.
Earlier, in 2024 and 2025, the train service was stopped during the summer months from April to July. However, according to Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of NWR, the train will now operate throughout, which is a part of a larger plan to promote heritage railway routes in Rajasthan.
Tourist Train Features
The train has a limited seating capacity of 59 reserved berths, making the journey comfortable and less crowded. The one-way ticket costs around Rs 1,000. The train includes an AC Executive coach, two metre gauge coaches, and a power car, while a general coach is reserved for staff.

Railway officials believe that this decision will also benefit from the increasing number of tourists visiting the Jawai Leopard Safari area. Many visitors coming for leopard safaris may also choose to enjoy this heritage train ride. Tourists can also explore nearby places like Sumerpur and the Jain temples in Rajsamand, making the trip more interesting.
