Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced a groundbreaking water taxi service in Mumbai. This innovative project promises to connect Mumbai to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport in just 17 minutes. The announcement, made during an election rally in Thane, aims to transform the city's transport system while reducing traffic congestion and pollution.
The water taxi service will utilize the vast sea routes surrounding Mumbai and Thane, offering a fast, eco-friendly alternative for commuters. A jetty has already been constructed near the Navi Mumbai International Airport to facilitate the service.
Key Features of the Project
- Amphibious Seaplanes: These versatile planes can land on both water and land, making them ideal for operating across small water bodies like lakes in Thane without needing traditional runways.
