The railway authorities have decided to extend the services of weekly special trains running between Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram, which operate via important stations such as Salem, Erode, Tirupur, and Podanur. The extension has been announced to meet passenger demand, and the services will now continue till the end of May.
Bengaluru to Thiruvananthapuram Trains
Train number 06547, which runs from Bengaluru to Thiruvananthapuram, will continue to operate every Wednesday until May 27. Similarly, train number 06548, running in the return direction, will operate every Thursday until May 28.
Moreover, another pair of special trains will also continue their services. Train number 06555 will run on Fridays until May 29, while train number 06556 will operate on Sundays until May 31.
Why are these Weekly Special Trains Necessary?
These special trains are important for passengers travelling between Karnataka and Kerala, as they connect major cities and towns along the route. Stations including Salem, Erode, Tirupur, and Podanur are key stoppages that serve a large number of travellers, including those travelling for work, education, and personal reasons. The extension of these services ensures that passengers have more travel options during this period, especially as demand usually increases during the summer season.
