Bangalore Metro Launches Commercial Services On Extended Green Line

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has received approval to initiate commercial services on the extended Green Line from Nagasandra to Madavara, expected to improve connectivity and reduce commuting challenges for passengers.

After a long wait, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has finally received the green light to commence commercial services on the extended Green Line from Nagasandra to Madavara. The official inauguration is expected on Wednesday, with full operations beginning on Thursday.

The Chief Public Relations Officer of BMRCL, BL Yeshwanth Chavan, mentioned that they have received directives from senior officials to initiate services on this 3.1-kilometre stretch. "We are working on fixing train schedules and deploying staff at the three new stations. We will share details on operating trains till Madavara on Wednesday," he said.

Passenger Frustration

Passengers have been frustrated by the prolonged delay in opening this line. On Monday, many faced difficulties boarding trains at Nagasandra station due to long queues extending onto the road. The delay in opening this line was blamed for the chaos.

This section of the metro includes three stations: Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara near BIEC. It is part of Phase II of the project and is noted as the smallest stretch constructed under this phase.

Anticipated Relief

The public has eagerly awaited this development for seven years. The completion of this metro stretch is expected to alleviate some commuting challenges faced by passengers in the area.

The upcoming launch marks a significant milestone for BMRCL as it continues expanding its network to better serve Bengaluru's residents. This extension aims to improve connectivity and reduce travel time for daily commuters.

With operations set to begin soon, commuters can look forward to a smoother journey along this newly extended route. The addition of these stations will enhance accessibility and convenience for those travelling between Nagasandra and Madavara.
