Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Riverfront Launches Phase-3 with ‘Panchattva’ Theme

The Sabarmati River has always been a special part of Ahmedabad. But now, it has become even more important and lively, thanks to the beautiful riverfront development. This project started under the leadership of Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Since then, it has grown phase by phase, and the latest Phase-3 is now ready to add even more to the city's beauty and charm.

Ahmedabad s Riverfront Phase-3 Begins

A Dream Project That Started in 2012

The Sabarmati Riverfront project was first launched with big dreams, and its first phase opened in 2012. Although it faced delays due to floods in 2006-2007, the work picked up speed again. The first two phases extended the riverfront up to Indira Bridge. Now, with Phase-3, the plan is to go even further, from Indira Bridge to the Karai Siphon Narmada Canal.

New Theme and Big Investment in Phase-3

The government has given environmental clearance for Phase-3 on March 12. This new phase will have a special theme called 'Panchattva', based on the five elements-Earth, Water, Fire, Sky, and Air. This makes it different from the earlier phases. Phase-3 will include beautiful view plazas where people can enjoy the river's greenery, culture, food, and history. Dubai's Shobha Developer is investing ₹1,000 crore in this project, and it is expected to be completed in the next four years.

Greenery and Eco-Friendly Plans in Phase-2

Phase-2 is also getting a big extension, covering 11 km from Dafnala to Indira Bridge on both sides of the river. This part of the riverfront is focused on nature and ecology. The plan includes stepped banks and planting more trees to create a green and peaceful environment. One of the main attractions in this phase is the Berejiklam Bridge, which is now under construction.

More Trees, Clean Energy, and Recreation

The Phase-3 plan includes planting over 1.5 lakh trees, making the area full of greenery. There will also be solar-powered water systems, a biodiversity park, Ayurvedic tree plantations, and tracks for walking and cycling. These facilities will offer both fun and relaxation for everyone.

Stronger Connections and a Bright Future

Once completed, the riverfront will connect Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar directly. Important places like the Narendra Modi Stadium, the airport, and the Bullet Train Station will become easily accessible. Cultural and community spaces will be added on both banks to bring people together.

In the future, the project will extend up to Phase-7, reaching the Chiloda Bridge near Gandhinagar. The total area covered will be 16.5 km with a total cost of ₹3,300 crore. This riverfront is not just a project-it is a vision to build a better, greener, and more connected Ahmedabad.
