As heavy rainfall occurred in several parts of Kerala on Friday, bringing relief from the hot and humid weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for two northern districts of the state during the evening.

Kerala Rain Alert
It was announced for Kozhikode and Wayanad for three hours starting from 7 pm. According to the IMD, these areas were likely to experience thunderstorms with moderate rainfall and strong winds. The wind speed in some places could reach up to 50 kilometres per hour, potentially causing temporary disruptions.
The IMD also predicted similar weather conditions in other districts, such as Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam, which were expected to receive light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms. In these areas, winds could reach speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour. Meanwhile, southern districts like Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha were likely to receive light rainfall.
As the orange alert is issued when there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall, usually between 11 cm and 20 cm, people in the affected areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions during such weather conditions.
