Indian Railways is expected to cancel around 77 trains in June due to major maintenance and infrastructure work being carried out on railway tracks. The disruption is likely to affect passengers travelling across several states, including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha.

Trains to be Affected
Out of the 77 affected trains, 65 are express and superfast trains, while 12 are local passenger trains. In addition to cancellations, around eight major trains will run on diverted routes, and six trains will be short-terminated before reaching their final destinations. Timings of several trains have also been changed, which may increase travel duration for passengers.
Some major trains likely to be affected include the Tatanagar-Bilaspur Express, South Bihar Express, Ahmedabad-Howrah Express, Howrah-CSMT Express, Hatia-Pune Express, Puri-Jodhpur Express, Okha-Shalimar Express, and Kamakhya-LTT Express.
Several premium trains, including Duronto Express services, will also run on alternate routes through Raipur, Titlagarh, and Jharsuguda instead of the usual Bilaspur-Champa section. Due to the longer routes, passengers may experience delays.
Reason behind the Cancellation
According to railway sources, the cancellations are part of a mega block being implemented for important railway development work. The main reason behind this move is the ongoing project to connect the fourth railway line at Champa station in the Bilaspur Railway Division. Railway officials said this work is necessary to improve train speed and reduce delays in the future.
Advisory for Passengers
Railway authorities have advised passengers to check train status before leaving for the station. Travellers can use the NTES app, IRCTC website, or railway helpline number 139 for the latest updates regarding cancellations, diversions, and revised schedules.
