To handle the extra crowd during the Vaikasi Visakam festival at Tiruchendur, special trains will be operated between Chennai and Tiruchendur.

Special Train between Chennai & Tiruchendur
According to a railway statement, Train No. 06155, a superfast special train from Chennai Egmore railway station to Tiruchendur, will leave Chennai Egmore at 2.30 p.m. on Friday. The train is scheduled to reach Tiruchendur at 3 a.m. the following day. In the return direction, Train No. 06156 Tiruchendur-Chennai Egmore Superfast Special will depart from Tiruchendur at 1.15 p.m. on Saturday and arrive at Chennai Egmore at 11.30 a.m. the next day.
Train Features
The trains will have different types of coaches for passengers. These include two AC 2-tier coaches, 12 sleeper class coaches, two general second-class coaches, and two second-class coaches designed for differently abled passengers. During the journey, the special trains will stop at several important stations. These include Tambaram railway station, Chengalpattu Junction railway station, Villupuram Junction railway station, Tiruchirappalli Junction railway station, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Kovilpatti, and Tirunelveli, among others.
How will these Trains Help?
Railway officials said these special trains are being introduced to help devotees travelling to Tiruchendur for the famous Vaikasi Visakam festival and to reduce crowding in regular trains. Booking for the special trains will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday. Passengers are advised to reserve their tickets early because a large number of devotees are expected to travel during the festival season.
