The IMD Hyderabad centre has issued heatwave warnings for multiple districts, advising residents to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during afternoon hours. Officials have also cautioned people against unnecessary outdoor travel as dry weather and hot winds continue to affect several regions.

At the same time, weather experts have indicated that isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds may bring temporary relief to a few districts during evening and night hours.

Temperatures Continue To Rise Across Telangana

According to weather observations shared in the latest updates, Nizamabad recorded one of the highest temperatures in Telangana at 45.5 degrees Celsius. Several northern and eastern districts are expected to continue witnessing extreme daytime heat over the coming days.

The IMD has forecast that temperatures may remain above 45 degrees Celsius in districts including:

  • Adilabad
  • Jagtial
  • Karimnagar
  • Komaram Bheem
  • Mancherial
  • Nirmal
  • Nizamabad
  • Peddapalle

The department has indicated that heatwave conditions are likely to persist until at least May 17 in several interior regions of the state.

Hyderabad Records Temperatures Above 42 Degrees

Hyderabad has also been experiencing rising temperatures, particularly during afternoon hours. Data from weather monitoring agencies showed that Amberpet recorded one of the highest temperatures in the city at around 42.4 degrees Celsius.

Several other parts of Hyderabad also crossed the 42-degree mark, including:

  • Shaikpet
  • Maredpally
  • Musheerabad
  • Asifnagar
  • Nampally

Although cloud cover was observed in parts of the city during morning and evening hours, weather conditions have largely remained hot and humid through the day.

Current forecasts suggest that maximum temperatures in Hyderabad may stay close to 38 to 39 degrees Celsius over the next few days, while humidity levels could make conditions feel warmer.

Thunderstorms Likely In Some Districts

Despite the ongoing heatwave, weather experts have forecast scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds in isolated districts of Telangana.

Rain-bearing clouds and thunderstorm activity are likely in:

  • Vikarabad
  • Sangareddy
  • Rangareddy
  • Narayanpet
  • Mahabubnagar
  • Gadwal
  • Wanaparthy
  • Nagarkurnool

Weather analysts noted that some areas could receive brief evening showers accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, which may temporarily reduce temperatures.

Hyderabad may also witness isolated thunderstorm activity during late evening or night hours, though widespread rainfall is not expected at present.

Public Advisory Issued

Authorities and health experts have advised residents to remain cautious during peak heat hours, particularly between noon and 4 pm.

Heatwave Safety Measures

  • Drink sufficient water throughout the day
  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight for long durations
  • Wear light and breathable clothing
  • Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during afternoon hours
  • Keep children and elderly individuals hydrated
  • Use umbrellas, caps or protective clothing while travelling outdoors

Residents have also been advised to remain alert during thunderstorm activity and avoid sheltering under trees or near electric poles during lightning conditions.

Weather Pattern Expected To Continue

Meteorologists expect the combination of high daytime temperatures and isolated convective activity to continue across Telangana over the next few days. While some districts may receive temporary relief through evening thunderstorms, heatwave conditions are likely to dominate much of the state through the weekend.
