Passengers travelling through Pune and nearby railway routes might face inconvenience in the coming days as Central Railway has announced cancellation, diversion, and rescheduling of several trains due to important infrastructure work. The disruption is linked to the Daund-Manmad Doubling Project, where railway authorities will carry out pre-non-interlocking

and non-interlocking work between Akolner, Ahmednagar, and Nimblak stations from May 15 to May 19.
Pune Trains to be Disrupted
According to railway officials, many train services passing through the Pune Division will either remain cancelled or run on diverted routes during this period. Several express and special trains, including the Nagpur-Pune Express, Pune-Nagpur Express, Pune-Gorakhpur Special, Gorakhpur-Hadapsar Special, Pune-Danapur Special, and Jabalpur-Pune Special, have been cancelled on selected dates.
Change in Routes
Railways have also changed routes for many long-distance trains to allow the infrastructure work to continue smoothly. Trains such as the Nizamuddin-Yesvantpur Express, Bengaluru-New Delhi Express, Jammu Tawi-Pune Express, Pune-Amravati Express, and Pune-Gorakhpur Express will run through alternate routes via Panvel, Kalyan, Nashik Road, and Manmad instead of their regular routes.
Other Services Affected
Some trains will skip scheduled stops during the affected days. The Hadapsar-Banaras Express and Banaras-Hadapsar Express will not stop at Daund Chord Line, Ahmednagar, and Kopargaon stations. However, temporary halts have been added at Panvel, Kalyan, and Nashik Road stations for passenger convenience.
Why is the Disruption Necessary?
Railway officials said the work is necessary to improve safety, increase operational efficiency, and speed up train movement in the future. Passengers have been advised to check updated train schedules and route details before starting their journey to avoid last-minute problems.
