World Heritage Day History:

To honour UNESCO's 1982 approval of the Convention Concerning the Preservation of World Cultural & Natural Heritage, the date April 18th was chosen to celebrate as World Heritage Day. The objective is to increase understanding of a variety of human cultural legacies, their vulnerabilities, and the precautions required to preserve and protect them.
