4. Rigorous 41-Day Fast
The pilgrimage involves a 41-day long fast (vratham), among the most challenging in India. 7. Makarajyothi - Divine Illumination

8. Abhishekam - Ritualistic Purification

10. Aravana Payasam - Auspicious Offering
A special prasadam, Aravana Payasam, a sweet pudding of rice, jaggery, ghee, cardamom, and raisins, is considered divine. Cooked in large cauldrons, it's distributed to devotees along with offerings of coconut, bananas, and sugar.
