Southern Railway has announced that two trains will run on a different route on November 18 and 20 because track renewal work is being carried out at the Dindigul railway yard. In a press release, the railway department said that Train No. 16321 Nagercoil-Coimbatore Express and Train No. 16322
Coimbatore-Nagercoil Express will not take their usual path on these two days. Instead, they will be diverted between Virudhunagar and Karur. The trains will travel through Manamadurai, Karaikudi, and Tiruchchirappalli Junction during the diversion.
Changes in Route
Because of this change in route, both trains will not stop at several stations they usually halt at. These skipped stops include Tirumangalam, Thiruparankundram, Madurai Junction, Sholavandan, Kodaikanal Road, Ambaturai, Dindigul, Eriodu, and Palaiyam. Passengers who normally board or get down at these stations will need to make alternate travel arrangements.
Alternative Stoppages
To help passengers on the diverted route, the railways will provide alternative stoppages. The trains will make halts at Aruppukkottai, Manamadurai, Sivaganga, Karaikudi, Pudukkottai, and Tiruchchirappalli Junction. These stations have been chosen to ensure that passengers still have reasonable access to the service despite the temporary diversion.
Why Are These Diversions Necessary?
The railway department requested passengers to take note of these changes and plan their travel accordingly. Such diversions are necessary for important maintenance work, which helps keep the tracks safe and efficient for long-term use. Once the renewal work at Dindigul yard is completed, the trains will return to their normal route and regular stoppages.
