Saudi Arabia is gearing up to introduce its newest travel experience - Dream of the Desert, the Kingdom's premier luxury train service. Crafted by the renowned Arsenale Group from Italy, this 40-cabin train is designed to offer travelers an unparalleled journey through the country's rich landscapes and cultural heritage.
Scheduled for launch by the end of 2025, Dream of the Desert will cover a distance of 800 miles, starting from Riyadh and concluding near the Jordanian border in Al Qurayyat. Along the way, passengers will have the opportunity to explore destinations like Al Qassim, Hail, and Al Jouf, immersing themselves in the Kingdom's diverse culture and history.
The train's design combines modern luxury with traditional Saudi aesthetics, ensuring a unique and immersive experience for passengers. Each carriage, crafted in Italy, will be tailored to reflect the distinct style and heritage of Saudi Arabia.
This initiative is aligned with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 tourism goals, aiming to attract 150 million visitors by the end of the decade. Dream of the Desert serves as a strategic endeavor to showcase the nation's treasures and cater to high-end tourists.
In response to evolving travel trends post-pandemic, luxury train cruising has gained popularity for its experiential and leisurely appeal. Dream of the Desert capitalizes on this trend, offering travelers a personalized journey to explore the heart of Saudi Arabia.
Production has already commenced on Dream of the Desert, marking a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia's tourism development. The collaboration between Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) and Arsenale Group signifies the Kingdom's commitment to enhancing its tourism infrastructure and providing world-class experiences for visitors.
CEO of SAR, Bashar bin Khalid Al-Malik, emphasized the opportunity for Saudis and tourists to explore more of the Kingdom through this train service. The train carriages, while built in Italy, will be fully customized to showcase Saudi style and tradition.
Arsenale Group, known for its expertise in luxury train services, is also collaborating on similar projects, including La Dolce Vita in Italy and a luxury train in the UAE. These ventures reflect the growing popularity of luxury train cruising as a preferred mode of travel in the post-Covid era.
Saudi Arabia's aspirations to become a leading tourist destination are evident through various developments across the Kingdom, including hotel and resort projects in AlUla, the Red Sea coast, Neom gigaproject, and Diriyah.
