Pune Metro saw a record 590,944 passengers as trains ran continuously for 41 hours until 11 pm on Anant Chaturdashi, September 6. From September 4 to 6, Pune Metro carried 1,327,139 commuters during the Ganesh festival, earning ₹19.44 crore in revenue. Moreover, Metro services were extended to handle the

festive crowds, running from 6 am to 11 pm between August 27-29. Trains also operated until 2 am from August 30 to September 5.
Major Highlights of Pune Metro Ridership
• In 2024, on Anant Chaturdashi (17th September), Pune Metro had 346,633 passengers with extended 24-hour services to manage crowds.
• The Mandai metro station, close to the festival area, had the highest footfall, with 169,272 passengers over three days.
• Mandai station had 54,613 passengers on September 4, 49,112 on September 5, and 65,542 on September 6.
• PCMC metro station saw ridership of 40,970 on September 4, 36,365 on September 5, and 48,363 on September 6.
• Shivajinagar station recorded over 1.08 lakh passengers during the three days.
• Dapodi station had 14,207 riders on September 4, 11,651 on September 5, and 64,703 on September 6.
• Other stations like Ramwadi, Civil Court, Vanaz, and Swargate also saw heavy foot traffic due to the immersion routes.
• Stations in outer areas like Bhosari Phata, Khadki, and M G Road reported lower commutation, with fewer than 3,000 passengers each.
This was the first Ganesh festival with the underground metro route between the District Court and Swargate in operation, providing direct access to key festival areas. Maha-Metro MD Shravan Hardikar thanked citizens for their support as the metro ran nonstop for 41 hours on Anant Chaturdashi, serving over 5.9 lakh passengers.
