On November 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Darbhanga in Bihar to inaugurate, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate a series of major development projects in the state. These projects, worth approximately Rs 12,100 crore, aim to boost connectivity through road and rail improvements, enhancing travel convenience for people across the region.

Key Road and Highway Projects
1. Four-Lane Galgalia-Araria Section of NH-327E
- Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the new four-lane Galgalia-Araria section of National Highway 327E. This highway connects Araria on the East-West Corridor (NH-27) with Galgalia near the West Bengal border, offering an alternate route and boosting regional connectivity.
2. Two Rail Over Bridges (RoBs)
- The Prime Minister also inaugurated two new rail over bridges located on NH-322 and NH-31. These bridges will ease traffic flow on major highways, reducing congestion and making travel safer and more efficient.
3. Bridge on NH-110 at Bandhuganj
- Another significant project completed is a bridge on NH-110 at Bandhuganj, which links Jehanabad with Biharsharif. This bridge is expected to greatly improve local connectivity, making it easier for residents to commute between the two towns.
4. Foundation Stone for Eight National Highway Projects
- Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for several other highway projects across Bihar. These include the construction of two-lane roads with paved shoulders from:
- - Ramnagar to Rosera
- - Bihar-West Bengal border to Manihari section of NH-131A
- - Hajipur to Bachhwara via Mahnar and Mohiuddin Nagar
- - Sarwan-Chakai section
- He also laid the foundation stone for bypasses at Raniganj (NH-327E), Katoria, Lakhpura, Banka, and Panjwara (NH-333A), as well as a four-lane link road connecting NH-82 to NH-33.
Railway Projects to Boost Connectivity
1. Sonenagar Bypass Railway Line
- The foundation stone was laid for the Sonenagar Bypass Railway line from Chiralapothu to Bagha Bishunpur in Aurangabad district. This project, worth over Rs 220 crore, will streamline railway connectivity in the area, reducing travel times.
2. Gauge Conversion and Doubling of Rail Lines
- Prime Minister Modi dedicated to the nation several rail projects worth over Rs 1,520 crore. This includes:
- Gauge conversion of the Jhanjharpur-Laukaha Bazar rail section, which will support more efficient train services.
- Doubling of railway lines to improve regional connectivity and reduce delays.
- Darbhanga Bypass Railway Line, which will ease congestion at Darbhanga Junction, enhancing traffic flow at the busy station.
3. New MEMU Train Services
- The Prime Minister flagged off train services in the Jhanjharpur-Laukaha Bazar section. The introduction of MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train services in this area will offer better access to education, healthcare, and employment for people traveling to nearby towns and cities.
Health Initiatives at Railway Stations
- 18 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras
- In an effort to provide affordable healthcare, 18 Jan Aushadhi Kendras were inaugurated at various railway stations across India. These centers will supply affordable generic medicines, making healthcare more accessible for passengers and promoting awareness about low-cost medication options.
