Patna Launches New Road Projects, Including Koilwar-Maner Double Lane Road and More

In a major step towards better roads and easier travel, Patna and nearby areas are seeing several new road projects. These new roads are expected to reduce traffic jams, connect more places, and give people faster and smoother travel options. One of the main projects is the construction of a double-lane road from Koilwar to Maner. This road will be 11 kilometers long and will cost Rs 71 crore 30 lakh 21 thousand 973. It will act as an alternative to the old Bihta-Maner NH 30, which often faces traffic problems.

Patna s Big Road Makeover Announced

The Koilwar-Maner road will be built on the Son Security Embankment, which was made in the 1970s to protect people from floods of the Son River. This embankment runs from Saidabad of Bikram to Shahpur of Danapur via Maner. Now, it is being changed into a road, showing the government's smart plan to use old resources for new needs.

Another important project is the extension of the elevated JP Ganga Path from Danapur Camp to Shahpur. This will help reduce traffic on the Danapur-Digha Ashok Rajpath. There is also a plan to turn the Son Safety Dam from Shahpur to Maner into a highway. Once done, this road will give people another choice to travel between Danapur, Maner, and Bihta, avoiding the old NH 30.

The state government is also working on many other road projects in the city. These include a four-lane Digha-Khagaul Canal Road and a two-lane Naubatpur Canal road. The roads will make it easier to travel across Patna, especially from the city center to Danapur and from AIIMS to Naubatpur. This will help with jobs, trade, and better city services. Roads like Gola Road, AIIMS-Naubatpur Canal Road, and the road next to JP Ganga Setu will also cut down travel time.

One good thing about these new projects is that they use government land and land owned by the Water Resources Department. This means the work won't stop because of land problems, and roads can be built faster.

There are also plans to improve places around Patna, like Sabhyata Dwar, Patna Haat, and a multi-level parking space near Patna Sahib Gurudwara. Mangal Talab in Patna City will get tourist facilities, and a new bridge near Naubatpur Lakh will make it easier to reach AIIMS.

On the last day of the Pragati Yatra, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stones and inaugurated many schemes worth Rs 1404.84 crore in Patna district. These include the widening of the Danapur Cantt-Maner-Bihta Path and new office buildings in 13 blocks. He also visited the Umanath temple complex in Barh and spoke about the importance of starting these projects quickly.

Besides significantly enhancing pedestrian safety and mitigating traffic congestion, Patna is set to introduce five new foot overbridges at critical junctures across the city. These structures are designed to offer a secure passage for pedestrians, incorporating advanced amenities such as lifts and escalators, catering especially to the needs of the elderly and those with disabilities.

The Path Construction Department has taken the reins to oversee the development of these overbridges, following the green light from the Bihar Road Safety Council. This initiative underscores the city's commitment to addressing the challenges posed by its burgeoning traffic and aims to significantly reduce road mishaps by facilitating safe pedestrian crossings.

Identified locations for these state-of-the-art overbridges include pivotal areas such as the entrance of Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park (Gate No. 1), the bustling vicinity of Secretariat at Punaichak Mor, and the strategic Income Tax Golambar. Other key sites selected are Taramandal near the Old Bypass at Bhoothnath Mor, and Saguna Mor, in close proximity to St. Karen's School. This strategic placement of overbridges is expected to greatly alleviate pedestrian congestion and streamline traffic flow in these high-density areas.

By implementing these infrastructural enhancements, Patna is taking a proactive step towards improving urban mobility and ensuring the well-being of its residents and visitors. The introduction of modern facilities within these overbridges reflects a thoughtful approach towards inclusivity, ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their physical capabilities, have access to safe and convenient pedestrian routes.
