The wait for the new Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is almost over. Indian Railways is preparing to launch India's first sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train, which will run overnight between Patna and New Delhi. This new service will offer a fast option for long-distance travellers, as the 16-coach

train is expected to cover nearly 1,000 km in only about eight hours, with a maximum speed of 160 km/h.
Design Made For Overnight Journeys
Unlike the regular Vande Bharat trains, which have only chair cars for daytime travel, this new model is designed specially for overnight journeys. It will have sleeper berths, upgraded interiors, and several modern features to make long trips more comfortable. The train will include touch-free bio-toilets, automatic doors, padded berths, soft lighting, and a neat, hotel-like design. As safety has also been given importance, the coaches are built to be crash-worthy, and the train will have an anti-collision system, CCTV cameras, and fire safety systems.
Vande Bharat Operations
The sleeper Vande Bharat between Patna and Delhi will operate six days a week. With its 16 coaches and a large number of berths, it is expected to ease the heavy passenger load on this busy route. Although the exact ticket prices are yet to be shared, fares are likely to be similar to other premium trains such as the Rajdhani Express.
For passengers travelling between Patna and the national capital, this train could be a major upgrade. It allows overnight travel that saves both time and the cost of accommodation. Its speed, comfort, and cleanliness make it a strong replacement for slower express trains or bus journeys.
One train has already completed trial runs, and another is being prepared to support regular services. The final schedule, fare details, and full route information will be announced soon. The official launch is expected before the New Year.
