Key Features and Architectural Significance of Revamped Ayodhya Dham Junction

Ayodhya Dham Junction: Ahead of the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Indian Railways has undergone a transformative change, renaming the revered Ayodhya Junction to "Ayodhya Dham Junction." Set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30, the revamped Ayodhya Dham railway station boasts the title of having "the country's largest concourse" and an architecturally stunning central dome inspired by Lord Ram's Chandra 'Mukut' (crown), blending modern solutions with traditional Indian temple aesthetics.

The decision to rename the station was welcomed by Ayodhya Member of Parliament, Lallu Singh, who shared the news on Twitter. Indian Railways embraced the proposal put forth by the Uttar Pradesh government for the name change, while the station code remains unchanged. The entire project is estimated to cost ₹430 crore upon completion, with a capacity to handle up to one lakh passengers. The roof design draws inspiration from the graceful lotus petals.

Prime Minister Modi is not only set to inaugurate the Ayodhya Dham railway station but will also flag off the Vande Bharat train between Ayodhya and New Delhi's Anand Vihar Junction on the same day.

The revamped G+2 model (ground plus middle and first floor) station complex promises a multitude of facilities aimed at providing quality and convenience. The first phase of this three-phase project has already been completed, marking an important milestone in the grand transformation.

Spanning 7200 square meters, the concourse on the first floor stands out as the country's largest. The central dome, covering over 11,000 square meters, draws inspiration from Lord Ram's Chandra 'Mukut,' with shikars inspired by the Janaki temple. Seven mandapas grace the space between the shikhars, creating a visually striking design.
