Indian Railways is planning to run the Vande Bharat Express between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Amritsar on a new route instead of Jalandhar. The train will now travel via Gurdaspur and Batala, offering a more direct connection.

Katra-Amritsar Vande Bharat Train Timings
According to officials, the train will depart from Katra at 6:40 am and reach Amritsar at 11:40 am on the same day. On its return journey, it will depart from Amritsar at 4:40 pm and arrive back in Katra at 9:45 pm the same evening. This schedule is expected to make travel easier and more convenient for passengers.
Vande Bharat Train to Stop at Major Stations
The train will stop at key stations like Jammu, Pathankot Cantt Railway Station, Gurdaspur, and Batala in both directions. Officials said the route change is aimed at providing faster and shorter travel between Amritsar and Jammu by avoiding the longer path through Jalandhar.
How will this Change Benefit Passengers?
This new alignment will also bring Vande Bharat services to areas including Batala and Gurdaspur, which will benefit residents as well as pilgrims travelling in the region. Railway officials stated that the decision was taken to improve the travel experience, especially for passengers using premium services. The change has been made in response to passenger demand and is expected to reduce travel time while providing modern and comfortable facilities. Moreover, trains will now stop at Pathankot Cantonment instead of Pathankot City.
Passengers are advised to check the latest schedules and stoppages on official platforms, including the Indian Railways website or the National Train Enquiry System, before planning their journey.
