The IMD has also issued a special nowcast warning for districts such as Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Davanagere, and Chitradurga. These areas may receive light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30-40 kmph. North Interior Karnataka has been placed under a yellow alert till May 14 due to the chances of thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, and intermittent rainfall. Cloudy skies are also expected in many districts. South Interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru and nearby areas, may experience short spells of rain, cloudy weather, thunderstorms, and gusty evening winds during the same period. As per the IMD Bengaluru weather chart, coastal Karnataka is expected to witness thunderstorms and lightning from May 11 to May 14. Weather conditions are likely to improve from May 15, and no major warning has been issued after that period.

Power Cut Effects

The IMD warned that bad weather could lead to temporary power cuts, traffic disruptions, damage to weak trees and huts, and harm to crops kept in open areas.

Advisory for Residents

Residents have been advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid unnecessary travel, keep doors and windows closed, avoid sheltering under trees, and unplug electronic devices during lightning activity. People have also been asked to drive carefully because roads may become slippery and visibility may reduce. According to weather experts, pre-monsoon activity is becoming stronger across Karnataka, and rainfall with thunderstorms may continue in many districts over the next week.
