It's time for some good news for Indian travelers who wants to renew their US visa. Those who previously held visas that stated "clearance received" or "department authorization" can use the interview waiver procedure now to apply for a new visa, according to the US Embassy in India.
The Department of State is continually working to streamline and improve the visa application process, and this latest modification is a part of those efforts. It is a great sign of relief for all those applicants who were earlier required to go for an in-person interview at the US Embassy or Consulate. Not only does it save time, but it also lessens the stress of starting the visa application procedure from the start.
US Embassy India twitted "More good news for U.S. visa renewals! Travelers with "clearance received" or "department authorization" on their previous visas can now use the interview waiver process to apply for a new visa. For additional interview waiver criteria, please see our website".

Eligibility:
Visa should be renewed in the same category that too within 48 months of expiry. Furthermore, if a traveler is applying for an F, H-1, H-3, H-4, non-blanket L, M, O, P, Q, or academic J visa in their country of nationality/ residence and has already received a visa of any kind, the consular officer may waive the requirement for an in-person interview.
This permission does not, however, apply to candidates who have previously been denied but who have not since had that denial waived or overcome. In-person interviews with applicants may also be requested by adjudicating consular personnel if they need more information from them.

Important points to note:
It's crucial to remember for people who apply for the interview waiver method that it could take up to 3 weeks from the time a passport is accepted at the Visa Application Centre until it is delivered or they receive notification that it is available for pickup. Under no circumstances will it be possible to expedite the process or withdraw the passport during this time.
