The government of Hyderabad is planning to introduce a pod-based transport system to improve connectivity to metro stations. This new system is being explored as a way to solve the last-mile problem, helping people travel easily from metro stations to nearby homes, offices, and commercial areas.

Technical & Financial Feasibility
Initiated & developed by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, which has started the process by inviting tenders to appoint a consultant. This consultant will conduct a study of the project's technical and financial feasibility, design the system, and help manage the bidding process for its implementation.
How will the Pod System Operate?
The proposed system will use small, battery-powered pods that can carry four to six passengers at a time. These pods will run automatically without drivers and will operate as part of a larger connected network. The system is expected to handle up to 10,000 passengers per hour, making it a fast and efficient option for short-distance travel.
Pilot Project to be Undertaken
A pilot project is being planned along the Raidurg to Kukatpally route. This stretch covers busy areas such as Hi-Tech City, the Financial District, and other important hubs where many people live and work. The aim is to test how well the system performs in areas with high demand for transport.
How will it Benefit Commuters?
Officials believe that this pod transit system will act as a support service to the existing metro network, not a replacement. It is expected to reduce traffic congestion, cut down pollution, and provide a smoother travel experience. Once the feasibility study is complete, decisions will be made about costs, safety, energy use, and expansion. If the pilot project is successful, the system could be extended to other parts of the city in the future.
