Indian Railways on Tuesday announced that the special bi-weekly train service between SMVT Bengaluru and Bidar will now become a permanent service due to strong passenger demand. Railway officials said the trains will now run with regular train numbers, helping passengers plan their journeys more easily throughout the year.

Bengaluru-Bidar Special bi-weekly Trains
• As part of the change, Train No. 06539 SMVT Bengaluru-Bidar Bi-Weekly Special will now operate as Train No. 16559 from May 15, 2026. Similarly, Train No. 06540 Bidar-SMVT Bengaluru Bi-Weekly Special will become Train No. 16560 from May 16, 2026.
• Train No. 16559 from SMVT Bengaluru to Bidar will leave Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal at 9:15 pm every Friday and Sunday and reach Bidar at 12:15 pm the next day.
• The return service, Train No. 16560, will depart from Bidar at 2:00 pm every Saturday and Monday and arrive in Bengaluru at 4:00 am the following day.
Train Features & Major Stoppages
Each train will have 20 coaches, including AC II Tier, AC III Tier, Sleeper Class, General Second Class, and luggage-cum-brake van coaches. During the journey, the trains will stop at important stations including Humnabad, Kalaburagi, Shahabad, Wadi, Yadgir, Krishna, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Adoni, Guntakal, Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Hindupur, and Yelahanka.
How will it Benefit Commuters?
According to officials, the decision will improve rail connectivity between Bengaluru and important towns such as Kalaburagi, Shahabad, and Wadi under the Solapur Division. The service is also expected to benefit passengers travelling across North Karnataka, also known as Kalyana Karnataka, along with people travelling to major railway junctions like Guntakal, Raichur, and Dharmavaram. Railways said the regular train service will help students, office workers, business travellers, pilgrims, and families travelling between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Railway officials advised passengers to travel with valid tickets and encouraged people to use the newly regularised train service for comfortable long-distance travel.
