Air India Increases Flights From Four Cities To Kolkata For Durga Puja Festivities

Air India announces additional flights to Kolkata from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Mumbai to meet the increased demand during Durga Puja, starting from 20 September 2024. This expansion aims to facilitate travel during the festive season.

Air India has announced additional flights to Kolkata from four Indian cities accommodate the festive rush during Durga Puja. Starting 20 September 2024, the airline will operate daily, non-stop flights from Bengaluru and Hyderabad to Kolkata for nearly a month. This move aims to meet the increased travel demand during the festive season.

The airline has also boosted its frequency on routes to Kolkata from Delhi and Mumbai. From 15 August 2024, flights from Delhi to Kolkata will increase from 28 weekly to 35 weekly. Similarly, starting 25 September 2024, flights from Mumbai to Kolkata will rise from 21 weekly to 28 weekly. These additions provide more options for travellers visiting their families during the celebrations.

Convenient Flight Timings

The new flights are scheduled at convenient times, offering greater flexibility and ease for passengers. Air India's flights to and from Kolkata are timed to ensure smooth connections through its hubs in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. This facilitates seamless travel to destinations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Last month, Air India announced that its flagship Airbus A350-900 aircraft would begin operating on the Delhi-New York and Delhi-Newark routes starting November 1, 2024, and January 2, 2025, respectively. This upgrade is expected to enhance passenger experience on these crucial routes.

Expanding Fleet and Network

Air India currently operates flights to five destinations in the United States: New York JFK, Newark, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco. The airline runs a total of 51 weekly flights between India and the United States. Since its inaugural flight on October 15, 1932, Air India has developed an extensive domestic network with non-stop services connecting cities worldwide.

In January 2022, after being a government-owned entity for 69 years, Air India and Air India Express were reintegrated into the Tata group. This transition marked a significant milestone in the airline's history.

The additional flights during Durga Puja aim to make travel more accessible for those planning visits during this joyous time. With increased frequency on key routes and convenient scheduling, Air India continues to enhance its service offerings for passengers.
