Bengaluru's Namma Metro Unveils New Yellow Line Schedule: First Trains Now at 5:05 AM on Mondays

Bengaluru's Namma Metro has changed its schedule for the Yellow Line, offering earlier services every Monday. From now on, the first trains on this line will run at 5:05 AM and 5:35 AM. Earlier, trains on the Yellow Line used to start only at 6 AM on weekdays. The Bangalore

Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) decided to revise the timing after passengers' protest at the R.V. Road station on November 17, complaining that the late start was causing serious inconvenience.

Many people who return to Bengaluru early on Monday mornings found themselves stranded because the Yellow Line began later than other metro lines, which start at 5 AM. Those arriving at Majestic or changing trains from the Green Line could not continue towards Bommasandra. The new timings are meant to fix this issue and make early-morning travel smoother.

How does the Revision in Timings Help the Passengers?

According to a report in The Hindu, BMRCL officials said the change would help manage large crowds that arrive in the city before sunrise, especially at the start of the week. They also clarified that these early services are only for Mondays. The timetable for Tuesday to Saturday remains the same, and Sunday timings will continue to begin at 7 AM.

Commuters' Opinions

Metro users have reacted positively to the change. A commuter from Bommanahalli shared that travellers arriving around 4:30 AM will now be able to continue their journey without waiting for long at R.V. Road. He said the late start on the Yellow Line had always been a problem for early-morning riders.

The protest on November 17 caused major delays when passengers blocked train doors at R.V. Road, holding up the first departure by around 35 minutes until police intervened.

The Yellow Line stretches nearly 19 km between R.V. Road and Bommasandra. Since its opening in August, it has seen heavy crowds, but BMRCL is adding more trains, with a sixth one expected in December to reduce waiting times.
